Viv Lorret writes exactly the kind of books I need right now. They’re light, funny, quirky, and full of interesting characters. In My Kind of Earl (which Lorret calls her “Regency Tarzan”), Jane is delightfully nerdy, always thinking about her research, reading, and past projects gone wrong even as the wild plot unfolds around her. Raven is exactly my kind of hero: strong and competent, but also vulnerable inside. I spent most of the book just wanting to hug him. The plot is kind of wacky, opening with a brothel brawl and continuing with the convoluted mystery of Raven’s birth, but these things are part of why I found this (and her other books) such a delightful escape.
