Book of the Week #1 - Bishop Takes Knight by McKenna Dean

Welcome!

I’m going to try to start a new “book of the week” feature, where I share a book I’ve particularly enjoyed, whether in my current reading or in the past.

Today’s book, Bishop Takes Knight, by McKenna Dean is a paranormal romance by a new-to-me author. I’d been intrigued by the cover, title, and description of this book for a while. When it won the PRISM award in the Light Paranormal category, I decided to move it up on my TBR and I am SO glad I did. I tore through this book, and even though I just finished, I kind of want to read it again.

You might like this if you like:

-vivid historical settings - the 1950s world is full of (frequently humorous) little details

-unique paranormal worlds - this one has a variety of shifters, strange technologies, and competing secret organizations

-lots of action/adventure

-feisty heroines - Bishop is bold and brave and fabulous

-slow burn romance - no sexy times in this particular book, but some good kisses and an excellent Happy For Now lead-in to future books

My review:

This book was utterly delightful from start to finish, and I am going to be raving about it to everyone I know, forever. Charming, snarky, and action-packed, with a sexy nerd hero and gutsy heroine. A historical urban-fantasy masterpiece. Can't wait to see where the series goes from here!

5 hearty stars!
